Instagram Albergue
Albergue is Spanish for “hostel.” These are the places along the Camino where pilgrims stop to stay at the end of each day of walking. Here, they share meals together, share stories of their Camino journey, and reflect on their experiences together.
For our Camino, we will have an Instagram Albergue! This is a private Instagram community where we can debrief, gather for prayer and worship, and share this journey together.

Don’t have an Instagram account? ¡No te preocupes! No worries!
You can either create an account to use for the weekend, or you can follow along on this page. There will be some time differences for live events (since we will need to download and re-upload them here), so thank you for your grace.
Gatherings
Videos from our Instagram Live gatherings will be posted here as soon as possible after their ending. Thank you for your patience.

@marfallcamino Walk 4- Rest with Jesus along the journey! A hard but life-giving invitation. It’s hard when all I want to do is practice escapism, while Jesus is asking to join me in the walk.

Grateful for a chance to slow down this weekend on the InterVarsity Fall Camino (Virtual Retreat). During one of my walks I remembered that I enjoy taking photographs of nature. Here’s one of my favorites. My prayer is that I can be more present - less focused on the past or future - especially during COVID. God is here with me (and us) in the present. May we hold on to that during these uncertain times.
Walk 4: Perseverance
How does Jesus want to share the burdens that you’re carrying this day?
Some of the words that are resonating with us #marfallcamino peregrinos! God is at work in us this weekend. Let’s stay attentive to what He is doing and saying.

The sheer fact that I haven't been outside in months is just...😭. I would've missed all this simple beauty!
Thank you @marfallcamino for letting me experience an amazing fall walk with God❤️
Repost @brianjmoore
“This beautiful fall day included a Camino/prayer walk with @fandmintervarsity students! Experiencing the disciplines of hospitality & gratitude.
Testimony night was so powerful! We heard so many stories of God moving in crazy, unexpected, and hopeful ways. Thanks to all our students who shared vulnerably and honestly with us. We honor your stories and are grateful for you. @chig0d @darealjamiehuang @that_writer_taylor Sunny! @slocumstewy and @oh.deell
How are you encouraged after hearing our friends share?
Walks are better with friends! (At least for those of us who are extroverts)
Keep sharing your photos & reflections - this experience is so much richer because of all of your contributions ☺️
Repost from @julia_roams - you can also share photos from your walks and tag us!
Non-Instagram folks, you can email photos to mia.rickenbach@intervarsity.org and we will share them.
“Even the sparrow has found a home, and the swallow a nest for herself, where she may have her young— a place near your altar, Lord Almighty, my King and my God. Blessed are those who dwell in your house; they are ever praising you. Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.”

This morning’s walk brought us to focus in on Psalm 84. Pilgrimaging with friends through the Valley of Baca, finding sweet moments of being present with God in the wilderness, and being reminded in this nearness to God, we lack nothing.
“Traversing joyfully the road to the great assembly, the happy pilgrims found refreshment even in the dreariest part of the road. As around a well men meet and converse cheerfully, being refreshed after their journey, so even in the vale of tears, or any other dreary glen, the pilgrims to the skies find sweet solace in brotherly communion and in anticipation of the general assembly above, with its joys unspeakable.”

Welcome & Orientation | Replay our welcome with Ryan and Jackira, worship with Shervin & the worship team, and the orientation video.
Thank you for your patience with the interrupted live video feed and the time it took to get this posted (praying God makes a way for tech, amen).
You can now enjoy the worship as many times as you'd like, either on IGTV or above, on this page of the website (for higher quality video).

What from Walk 1: Simplicity stuck out to you or blessed you the most?
Repost from Towson/Loyola InterVarsity staff, @kathryn.chloe_
She says, “[I’m] waiting expectantly for 'the One above' to speak, while admiring the beauty of autumn and sporting all the flannel!”
In the "collection" story highlight, you can read her full caption that includes the pilgrim's blessing from this morning.

First up, debrief groups:
•
After each walk, we will meet in debrief groups. Camino guides will lead our groups to help process what God is teaching each of us. You’ll know your group before the first debrief and meet in whichever way is best for your group.
Gatherings
We will gather live in our Instagram albergue for Orientation, Morning Blessings, Testimony & Worship Night, and our Celebration & Next Steps:
🧭
Orientation: kicking off our Camino! Our emcees Jackira and Ryan will lead us into the conference, we'll worship together with Shervin, and get oriented for our journey.
✨
Morning Blessings: Each morning, we will meet to begin our day. Shervin will lead us in live worship, and Jackira and Ryan will meet with us to reflect on the past day and prepare us to set out for what's next.
🎤
Testimony & Worship Night: hear from and share your stories with fellow student pilgrims! How is God moving through our Camino? Let's celebrate His work so far. Have something to share? DM us. THEN we'll have Praise Break with Kris, worshipping and praising to close out the night.
🎉
Celebration & Next Steps: our Camino for this weekend will conclude, but we'll carry all God has done into our next steps.
Other Activities
We have various other activities planned throughout the weekend:
🙏
Morning Prayer - meet God first-thing in the morning. Natalie and Kelsey will lead us in prayer.

Community Night GAME NIGHT - we'll have trivia, and you have the option to lead your own virtual game table*
✨
Throughout the weekend, you can share your Camino reflections, testimonies, and experiences with us by emailing mia.rickenbach@intervarsity.org reflections we can share exclusively within the private Instagram community, or text testimonies we can share anonymously.

Plan Your Walks
As we prepare for our first walk on Friday, plan out the walks! Consider where you will walk, how you will get to your walking location, what you will wear, and who you might walk with.
•
Be sure to share your plans for the weekend with your housemates.
•
In the spirit of pilgrims who walk in Spain, we encourage you to go walking even if there is rain. God will meet you in the discomfort.
•
Need and alternative to walking? You could garden in your backyard while listening to the guides, or even sit in a chair while moving your feet. God will meet you, no matter what your Camino looks like.
•
Please consider safety as you take your walks. We encourage you to invite a household member or masked friend to walk with you; They're welcome to listen to the audio guide with you, or simply walk alongside.
the Camino
The Camino de Santiago is one of the oldest pilgrimage routes in Europe. Every year, hundreds of thousands (over 300,000 in 2017) of pilgrims from around the world set out each year to make their way across northern Spain to Santiago de Compostela.
•
Most pilgrims travel by foot, some by bicycle, and some even travel on horseback or by donkey.
•
In whatever way people journey the Camino, a defining feature is the community of many other pilgrims also walking. Each day, pilgrims stop to stay in albergues, which is Spanish for hostel. Here, they rest from their daily walking, share a meal, and share stories from their lives and Camino journey.
our camino
We will join the Camino tradition by walking from our own front doors. Many pilgrims from Europe walk starting from their home, and so will we!
•
We have five audio-guided walks (all on the private website linked in our bio) that will lead us in our weekend pilgrimage.
•
As we do our individual walks at home, we will also be coming together each day here, in our private Instagram albergue. Consider this space as a home to gather in, as well as a guidebook as we all journey throughout the weekend.
•
Please be sure to review the Instagram albergue community guidelines in our story highlights.
•
Read more about our Camino details in our other pre-conference posts.
God meets pilgrims
People walk the Camino for many different reasons - some as a religious pilgrimage, some as hikers who walk the route for travel or sport. Many consider the experience as a spiritual retreat from modern life.
•
As we journey the Camino together this weekend, we will dig into Scripture and embody spiritual practices through our physical movement?
•
God is faithful to meet the pilgrim. If we come into this weekend with open eyes, ears, and heart - He will meet us in our questions, doubts, fears, joys, gains, and losses.
•
What are you carrying into this Camino? What are the weights, questions, or thoughts already in your backpack? You're welcome to share in the comments below.
